Wings

About a year and a half ago my friend Constance took pictures of me the first time and she managed to capture some wonderful photos. So recently we decided it had been far too long, and my hair had gotten far too short, to still believably be able to use the other pictures on my profiles and as such it was time to take some new pictures. This time taking a bit less time and simply stopping on our way to the grocery store, but still some great photos, Constance captured me 17 months after our first shoot! Thank you again Constance!!!

Just Do It!

Just do it, on stage dancing, rain, walking, running, Nike, mythology, happiness, jokes and family. There are so many more words I could use to describe the introweek but I think these capture the week pretty clearly. I had so much fun being a parent this year, the theme of the week was Greek Mythology and our family theme was Nike, Goddess of Victory. We went for a slightly different route for our costume as you can see in the pictures below. We had an amazing week and as school has already started I have too much homework  to write a detailed description of each event so, like I usually do, I will let the pictures speak for themselves. A big thank you to our lovely 10 kiddos and my wifey for this amazing week!!

Smile Mona Lisa

Only one more week here in Singapore! As always I am amazed by how fast time goes by. When I left the Netherlands seven weeks ago it seemed as though it would take forever for me to fly back to Schiphol. Unfortunately that is not the case and I truly do have to fly back to the Netherlands soon... But before I go back, I am (re)visiting some wonderful places here and also spending time with the family and being with them is wonderful!

Together with my sister I went "shopping" last weekend, which in our case consists of enjoying wonderful Chai Tea Soy Latte's (and as my sister points out I always say this wrong and it is in fact Chai Tea Latte with soy and not my beautifully created (if I may say so myself) name for the beverage)) at Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf followed by admiring the items in our favorite charm bracelet stores. My sister has chosen a Pandora bracelet and a couple of charms that she will be getting for her 18th birthday this October from my parents, myself and more. I have a Thomas Sabo charm bracelet which will soon be enhanced with a few more charms that have now finally been ordered! After going through seemingly every charm in these stores we met up with our parents and our cousin and his wife, who were here for a couple of days last week, at the new Jamie's Italian restaurant on Orchard Road! The food there is so delicious and the service is amazing. My sister is vegan and I am gluten intolerant and do not eat meat so we are not the easiest customers to deal with but this is definitely one of the restaurants that knows its stuff and can help choosing and adapting their menu to our dietary needs! Definitely recommended!

With the whole family at Jamie's Italian!
I am very happy to spend some more time with my family before I leave for my fifth semester at university and have to miss them for 5 months again... But I'm still here and enjoying every second of it!

Lean On

Last Saturday we viewed the rehearsal for Singapore's National Day celebrations that are happening tomorrow! My family and I saw the rehearsal from the Lantern Bar where we had a wonderful view of Marina Bay. My parents will be married for 25 years in September but as I will be back in the Netherlands then we had an early celebration for this occasion on this beautiful evening as well! With a beautiful view of Marina Bay Sands and champagne in our hands (and a mocktail for my sister) we waited for the airshow to begin. It truly was a very impressive show and a wonderful evening!

Not My Day

We went to 9 yoga classes in 7 days in the last week! My mom and sister are members of a yoga school here in Singapore and they took myself and my dad to their classes for the past week. We tried multiple types of yoga and I have to say it was really great! Despite being a bit confronting (I have been injured for the entire summer so far) it was also really wonderful to discover that even if a certain pose hurt my injury, I could find an alternative pose together with the instructor and still get the same benefit that the initial pose was intended for. We attended multiple classes called Iyengar & Hatha 1. We also went to one Restorative class and one Chakra cleansing class. I completely understand why my family enjoys going to yoga almost daily and wish I could join them for longer but our trial period ended unfortunately. When I get back to the Netherlands I want to start attending a yoga school in my city again (which I also attended in my third semester) and continue recovering from my injury so I can slowly go back to doing workouts on a regular basis like I used to!

I can barely wait to continue with the yoga classes but thankfully it does have to wait a little while because I still get to be in Singapore for the next 2 weeks! This week I am at a traineeship that I unexpectedly got during the middle of last week but next week I will spend visiting some last things that I still want to do before I leave and of course just spending time with my family!

I am also slightly obsessed with the song called Not My Day by Keith James (hence the title of this post). The title may seem a bit negative but the song makes me so happy and to me it means to also enjoy the days where everything may seem to be going wrong, just keep going and it'll all be good again sooner than you think! Enjoy!
